Ministry of Agrarian Policy and OECD will deepen cooperation in the field of agricultural machinery testing

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the Organization for economic cooperation and development will deepen cooperation in the field of testing of agricultural machinery.

According to the press service of the Ministry, this was discussed during a meeting of the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olena Kovalova with representatives of the Organization For Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The parties discussed the prospects for the application of OECD standards on testing of agricultural and forestry equipment, which allows to simplify the processes of international trade.

“We appreciate the cooperation with the OECD and strive to do everything possible to avoid any potential barriers to bilateral trade, import and export of any goods, including agricultural machinery and equipment.

Thus, Ukraine's application of OECD standards for testing agricultural machinery will allow us to rise to the highest level of competition in the international arena,” Olena Kovaleva stated.

She added that Ukraine, thanks to successful cooperation with the OECD, has already gained significant advantages, for example, in the field of seed, joining the OECD seed schemes for varietal certification of seed breeding of grain, corn and sorghum. Cooperation on agricultural machinery could be the next important step.

A working group on conformity assessment of agricultural machinery has already been established under the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, where discussions take place on the possibility of applying OECD standards in the framework of updating national legislation.

According to Gabriela Miranda, the Project Manager in Ukraine of the OECD's Global Relations Secretariat, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is ready to deepen cooperation with Ukraine, especially in the agricultural sector, which is important for the country's economy.
