Ukraine and the EU have agreed to summon an offline meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council with the participation of delegations in February 2021.
We have decided to hold the Association Council with European partners in the format of an offline meeting. But due to the severe lockdown in Brussels, which does not allow a mere visit, we agreed to postpone it to February 2021. In the meantime, we have agreed to maintain a dialogue at the top political level until the Ukrainian delegation visits Brussels as soon as possible," explained Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.
Among the issues of this year's Association Council’s meeting planned to raise is further work on the basis of a joint statement of the 22nd Ukraine-EU Summit, in particular on evaluating the results of the Association Agreement, launching the process of updating the Association Agreement, signing the Common Aviation Area Agreement, discussing progress in industrial visa-free travel introduction, dialogue on Ukraine's involvement in the implementation of the European Green Deal, strengthening economic integration and further steps to overcome the crisis caused by the decisions of the Constitutional Court, etc.
"Next week, together with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, we are scheduled to have a conversation with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi and aftermath we can talk about a specific date for the meeting", commented Olha Stefanishyna.
It should be noted that the meeting of the Ukraine-EU Association Council was scheduled for December 8 in Brussels. This is an annual event gathered to assess the implementation of the Association Agreement at the top political level and outline future plans.
