President Petro Poroshenko signed a Decree On the competition to select candidates for election as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights from Ukraine (No.100/2019).

The document provides for the creation of a competition Commission for the selection of candidates for the ECHR. Its membership included the Head of the EU Project “Support to Reforms on the Development of the Rule of Law in Ukraine “PRAVO” Dovydas Vitkauskas, Professor of International Law and International Relations of the National University “Odessa Law Academy”, Candidate of Legal Sciences Timur Korotkyi, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Civil Law Sciences of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor Natalia Kuznetsova, Head of the Department of European Law at Ivan Franko Lviv National University, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor Mikhail Mickiewicz, Professor of Constitutional, Municipal and International Law Department of the Karazin Kharkiv National University, Doctor of Legal Sciences Tatiana Syroid.
According to the results of the competition, the Competition Commission formed a list of three candidates for election as a judge of the ECHR from Ukraine, which is to be announced on the day of completion of the competition and published no later than the next working day.
The Decree comes into force from the date of its publication.
