The vast majority of Ukrainians continue to support Ukraine’s accession to the EU

A new all-Ukrainian poll conducted by the Rating Group on behalf of the International Republican Institute (IRI) shows that support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and NATO remains high among the majority of Ukrainians.
The poll shows that Ukraine is seeking rapprochement with the West. 77% of Ukrainians would support joining the EU as opposed to a customs union with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
In particular, 26% of respondents believe that it will take less than 3 years for Ukraine to become a member of the European Union, and another 32% believe that Ukraine will be able to become a member of the EU in 3-5 years. 15% of respondents believe that joining the EU will take more than 10 years, and 3% believe that Ukraine will not join the European Union.
Also, 77% of respondents said they would vote for Ukraine’s accession to NATO if the referendum were held today.
Overall, according to the poll, the vast majority of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine will defeat Russia in the war and are optimistic about the country’s future. When asked whether Ukraine will win the war with Russia, 88% said yes. In addition, 80% believe that the future of their country looks “rather encouraging.”

The survey was conducted throughout Ukraine (except for the occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas) from February 17 to 21, 2024. The method of the survey was Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) – telephone interviews using a computer based on a random sample of mobile numbers.
A total of n=2,000 Ukrainian residents aged 18 and older were interviewed. The sample does not include Ukrainians who are not currently in Ukraine. The error of representativeness of the survey with a confidence level of 0.95 does not exceed 2.2%.
